WHY IS THERE IS AN ENTRANCE FEE TO PARTICIPATE?

The philosophy of VIPC is to keep the photographers the main owners of the contest. The entrance fee is a way to cover the direct costs and the main activities that a serious contest generates, above of all in a historical town like Venice. The costs are recorded and available to the italian authorities, that every year will control the operation of a non-profit organization. Our goal is to have an open relationship with the participants about all of our activities. We would also like to produce an author every year. Any comments or opinions are always welcome.

IF, AS WINNER, I ACCEPT TO JOIN THE VIPC TOUR, HOW YOU WILL HOLD THE EXHIBITIONS?

We will use top-class reprints for the VWT (Vipc World Tour) and projections of the accepted photos!

WHY TO ACCEPT ONLY THE FILES AND NOT THE PRINTS?

To Hold the exhibition we will use top-class reprints and projections of the accepted photos. Sometime we ask to the photographer the original, if the file in not enought. We noticed, during the last two years that shipping costs are very expensive for participants. We received photos from IRAQ, or other countries, where just the shipping was about 50$ and sometime the packages were lost. To keep the contest open to everyone with pair conditions, we decided to accept this standard. We managed on 2006 more than 35 countries, this way is necessary to avoid problems with different languages and cultures.

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE PLACES FOR THE TOUR?

Towns and places will be chosen using the following 3 parameters:

-the number of photographers that will join the tour.
-the international draw of the place.
-the budget available after the Award Ceremony.

We have already set a list of possible towns, helped by professional photographers and friends from each of the places mentioned.

COULD I BECOME A JUDGE FOR THE NEXT CONTEST?

Of course! If you are a professional photographer, you could be one of our judges or substitutes. Please send us an email and we will contact you.

WILL I LOSE THE COPYRIGHTS OF MY PRINTS?

No. We respect European property laws. Your images belong to you. You grant us, free of charge, the permission to the sponsors and VIPC to reproduce all or a part of the entered material free of charge, for the catalogue, publicity purposes, publication and/or display in media, including newspapers, magazines, and in all the activities related to the exhibition in the interest of the Contest and to demostrate all participants and winners. This may include low resolution posting on a website. The copyrights are always of the author. In case of a commercial request by a third party, we will foward this information to the exhibitor. The exhibition assumes no liability for any misuse of copyright. The participant is the only one responsible for releases from persons and subjects shown in his entry;

WILL YOU PUBLISH MY PRINTS ON THE VIPC WEBSITE?

After the closing date, a low-resolution slideshow will be available on our website. It contains the pictures of all of our participants (winners plus those who have sent jpeg files), the author's name and the description.
